2001 Green Album leak

Around early 2001, fourteen songs from the album session were leaked. Most of them featured slightly different edits or song parts, all were unmastered. Some of the songs appeared under early titles. It is unknown who leaked the songs.

In July 2011, after over 10 years, an Argentinian promo CD from Universal Music (Argentina) including the early, fully-mastered edit of the song "Starlight", was found on eBay by a Weezer fan and shared on Allthingsweezer.com. At the time, it was thought to be the only known official and physical release of any of the early edits of the Green Album songs. However, this early edit can also be found on a German 5-track Green Album promo sampler by Motor Music.

These promo releases may also indicate that all the songs may have been edited after the mastering process. So odds are that lossless and mastered versions of the early edits indeed exist and were possibly used for other promo releases.

Hash Pipe: unmixed vs. short edit short edit's first chorus cuts off quick after the line "i got my eye swipe"

Hash Pipe: original album version vs unmixed after the second chorus of the album version there's a little build-up before rivers says "hash pipe" a second time. the unmixed version does not have this section and "hash pipe" is only said once and then the song goes straight into what's after the build-up in the the album version. there's the same difference in the third chorus so that the unmixed version ends with three "hash pipes" and the album version ends with 4.

Knock-Down, Drag-Out, Teenage Victory [Song], and Simple Pages (aka Gimmie Some Love) had no structural differences. All songs on the unmixed version do seem to be just a tiny bit faster than the released ones though and all songs may also have any number of additional vocal and instrumental overdubs and/or layering.
