Overview
The song was demoed in consideration for several albums and the chorus melody was used for the verses in "Prom Night", a bonus track on the Japanese release of Weezer (The White Album) and a b-side to the fan-club single "The Last Days of Summer". It was later used again for the bridge of "Iambic Pentameter", from the EP SZNZ: Winter. "I have this folder of ideas," Cuomo told Uproxx in a 2023 interview, "and it has 1500 MP3s in there. And usually once I use an idea, I take the idea out of the folder so I won’t reuse it. Now, in this case, years ago I used it in a song called “Prom Night,” and then I forgot to take the idea out."[1]
The earliest known demo was for Make Believe during a June 4, 2004 pre-production recording session at S.I.R. Rehearsal Studios in Los Angeles.
