Marcos Siega, director of several Weezer music videos, is born.
- 1997 - Weezer opens for No Doubt in Council Bluff, NE at the Westfair Amphitheatre on their Tragic Kingdom Tour.
- 1999 - The tribute album Where Is My Mind?: A Tribute to the Pixies is released, featuring Weezer's cover of "Velouria," the first official release by the band since going on hiatus in 1997, and the first to feature Mikey Welsh on bass.
- 2001 - Weezer performs in Toronto, ON, Canada at Ontario Places "Island Club" (102.1) on the Hooptie Tour.
