'Too Late to Try' is a song by Weezer, one of several of the so-called "Summer Songs of 2000". The song was never officially released, but demos exist in circulation among fans.

Overview

"Too Late to Try" is first known to have been demoed at Cole Rehearsal Studios in July of 2000. A studio demo of the song was later shared online with fans. The song was also performed live several times on the band's Summer 2000 Tour and recorded to the band's mobile 8-track unit. Some of these demos were subsequently shared online as well. One such recording was released in multiple forms: a full-length live recording, and a slightly truncated version of the same recording released by Rivers Cuomo to fans as part of the "Official" SS2K "album".

The song's lyrics may be about Cuomo's uncertainty and trepidation surrounding the band's attempt at a comeback, though this has not been officially confirmed.

Lyrics

I don't want to die
Even though I have to
I just want to live a long, long time

And I see the gang to which I belong
Time to sing out our happy song
Wouldn't it be a cruel joke
If it's too late to try? Why?

I don't wanna grow
Even if it's good growth
I just wanna stay just like this

And I see the comfortable place to rest
Time to get this shit off my chest
Wouldn't it be a cruel joke
If it's too late to try? Why?

And I see the gang to which I belong
Time to sing out our happy song
Wouldn't it be a cruel joke
If it's too...
And I see the gang to which I belong
Time to sing out our happy song
Wouldn't it be a cruel joke
If it's too late to try? Why?
