"Change The World" is an unreleased Weezer song demoed during the Maladroit recording sessions.

Overview

"Change the World" is first known to have been recorded at Sage & Sound Studios in Hollywood, between August 29 and September 8, 2001. Though some songs from these sessions were released to fans online, "Change the World" was not among them. The song was worked on at Steakhouse Studios in late October of that year, and continued to be worked on at Cello Studios in November. The song made its live debut when the band performed as Goat Punishment at The Knitting Factory for the HBO show Reverb on October 24, 2001. The song was performed live throughout November and into early December during the Extended Midget Tour. The song was demoed at least twice in early January of 2002 during the sessions for Maladroit, though the song did not appear on the album.

Lyrics

Maladroit Demo (January 8, 2002; January 11, 2002)

You want it
You got it
You flaunt it and get your feet on the ground
And love me right now

You like it
You hate it
You bought it and glued your butt to the sound
And love me right now

You couldn't change the world
To fit your little thing

Live; December 5, 2001

You like it
You bought it
You hate it and get me down
And love me right now

You couldn't change the world
To fit your little thing

You like it
You hate it
You bought it and get me down
And love me right now[...]
