Overview
"Polynesia" is Scott Shriner's first writing contribution to Weezer[citation needed] . This instrumental segues into "Dope Nose," and the tandem makes up track one of the EP. This was done in order to keep the track total at six, which was mandated by the label. The EP was specifically created in order to market at independent music retailers only, and the total tracks were kept to a minimum to avoid breaking certain agreements with other retailers.
"Polynesia" was the first officially released Weezer song to not feature Rivers Cuomo as the writer or co-writer.
The song was performed live at least once, when it was recorded for the EP in Fukuoka, Japan on May 19, 2002.
