Rivers Cuomo performed at the T.T. The Bear's Place in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 26, 1997 for the release party of the American Measles debut album as part of a short run of Weezer "try-out" shows. Occurring two months into Weezer's post-Pinkerton hiatus, this concert was Cuomo's first live performance alongside future Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh as well as the first known concert to be billed as a solo Rivers Cuomo performance. In addition to Welsh, Cuomo was joined by Kevin Stevenson (of the band The Shods) on guitar and Zeph Courtney (of Chevy Heston and Stompbox) on drums.
