Other methods:

  • includeonly tags
  • transcluding by sections (with invisible section headers)

Other ideas:

  • how to make year and day pages standardized so that you don't have to add in {{:DAY YEAR}} every time you make a new thing, and so that the page won't display a bunch of red links if day pages haven't been formatted correctly yet.

Matt chronology

Okay I started to say this a week or so ago, but I figured it would be interesting to spell out in full - starting May of '94 Matt Sharp's life was absolutely wild:

Weezer gets back from recording Blue in like Oct of 93, and plays the roughly 10-15 shows per month that they'd been building up to as an unsigned band, until May, when they start their actual first pro tour, which lasts from May to December without a break, playing 135 shows in roughly 210 days. That's in 30+ states, most of them more than once, and Canada multiple times.

They take two months off from mid Dec 94 to the end of Jan 95, but then from Feb 95 to mid April 95 they play more than 40 shows in like 90 days in 8 different countries and 16 different states.

They take most of April and May 95 off b/c Rivers has leg surgery. Matt records ROTR (not sure how long this takes)

But then from June to August 95 they do two months in Europe in 9 different countries, then shows in 15 different states. another 40ish shows in about 90 days.

They stop touring but essentially go straight into the studio for Pinkerton - about three weeks of recording over two months, which that gets you to October 95, when ROTR releases.

Matt plays at least 31 shows in two months, in at least 12 states in the US + Canada.

Then they two more weeks of recording Pinkerton in Jan 96, but as soon as Jan 26th the Rentals are touring again, and they play about 50 shows in like 3 1/2 months in 11 US states then 11 European countries, some of them twice. This lasts till mid April 96

The timeline gets a little foggy from April to August, but Matt seems to go straight back to LA from touring to record more of Pinkerton, and then has to then leave those sessions early to go to London and start working on 7MM (not sure how long this lasts).

By Aug 15 96 he's back on the road with Weezer, and they play almost 80 shows in 16 different countries and 22 states. This involves ping-ponging between western Europe and Scandanavia several times, then coming back to the US for three shows, then doing Australia/New Zealand/Japan, then back for a North America tour. This goes all the way up to Christmas 96, and they take two weeks off, but then they do 13 shows in 15 days in January 97. That's in 9 states.

Weezer takes a break until May, but Matt goes back to Europe this whole time to record more of 7MM.

Starting late May they play 47 shows in about 60ish days in the US and Canada. More than 20 states. This is till July 20, 97 when they take about 10 days off. But then they do 6 shows in 12 days in Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hawaii.

Then August 15 97 they play the Mykel and Carli show and he's essentially done with Weezer and he kinda comes back to planet Earth. He doesn't come up in the recording history again till "early 98" for American Girls. 7MM was supposedly recorded through 98 and 99, though, so I imagine he's back and forth between CA and Europe at least a few times.

7MM comes out on April 13, 1999, and he doesn't get back on the road with the Rentals till August of 99.

In total this is is like 450ish shows, recording for four different albums, and shows on 3 different continents, probably 20 different countries, probably 40ish different states. From May 94 to August 97.
