"Ayleen" is a song demoed by Weezer in contention for the The Green Album.

Appearances

Overview

"Ayleen" was written by Rivers Cuomo while living at an apartment on Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles in 1999. The song was later demoed by Weezer and featured on a demo tape in 2000, submitted by the band to Interscope/Geffen in hopes of receiving approval for a third album[1]. The song remained in contention for The Green Album during recording sessions at Cuomo's home studio, but was retired by the time the band entered the studio in December of 2000. The song was among hundreds of Cuomo's demos leaked online through the demo storefront on riverscuomo.com on November 7, 2020. A few weeks later, on November 22, the song was sold as part of the digital demo compilation Alone VI: The Black Room.

Lyrics

Ayleen
Why don't you come on home, girl?
You're shining like a pearl
And you can't wait to be alone
Yeah, yeah

???
Just whacha' think you're doin'?
Our lives are like the wind
And I can't wait to be alone
Yeah, yeah

Sundays
Are such a special week day
Might go insane, ???
And I can't wait to take you home
Yeah, yeah

???
Just whacha' think you're doin'?
Our lives are like the wind
And I can't wait to take you home
Yeah, yeah
