"Close to Your Lips" is an unreleased Weezer song co-written by Rivers Cuomo with Deleon Blake, Jonny Coffer, Kieron McIntosh, Sebastian Teigen, and Jerome Williams. The song was cut from Pacific Daydream late in the album's production.[1]
Overview
The song's existence became known in 2017 when it was added to the BMI/ASCAP song database along with other songs from Pacific Daydream, suggesting that it was in consideration for that album. The song was briefly listed (as dummy data) on the demo storefront page on riverscuomo.com beginning on October 14, 2020, prior to the storefront's launch.
Cuomo confirmed on his Discord channel in January 2022 that the song's lyrics were the basis for the "Westside Weirdos" merchandise sold during the promotional cycle Pacific Daydream, adding that the song was a "new-ish, catchy, upbeat, fun" song cut from the album "at the last second."[1] The song remains unheard by fans.
