Today in Weezer History: 1/31/2005 - On this day in 2005, Weezer had an all day photo shoot in Los Angeles with Sean Murphy, to shoot promotional photos for the upcoming release of Make Believe. Several well known shots came from this session, including the very color coordinated cover to the "We Are All On Drugs" single, the "blue" band photo by a slanted grey diagonal wall, the "downtown diner" photo seen in Make Believe, and the "hedge" photo (shooting of which shown here - photo credit Sarah C. Kim). Sean Murphy has shot the band several times over the years, and it also responsible for the scooter photos used on the "Pork n' Beans" singles, amongst many others. At the time of today's shoot, "Make Beleive" [sic] itself wasn't quite finished, with the band doing some final sessions with Rick Rubin at Jim Henson Studios and elsewhere, after a mid January meeting where it was decided the album wasn't finished and needed some changes to its tracklist. However, a May '05 release was already decided upon, so the Geffen promotional machine got into gear, under the assumption that the album would be finished in time - which it was. -karl
