Overview
"I Woke Up in Love This Morning" is a cover of a Partridge Family song, and is technically a Rivers Cuomo solo track, even though it is credited to Weezer. It features Andrew Scott, Patrick Pentland, and Chris Murphy of Sloan backing Cuomo, as the rest of Weezer was unavailable that day. The song was tracked on March 26 and March 29, 2003 during the S.I.R. Demos. Another song from these Sloan-backed sessions, "Little Diane", was released on Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.
The first version released to fans was the version heard on the Japanese release of Raditude in 2009, as well as on the single release of "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To". Another, rougher take of the song was leaked through the demo storefront on riverscuomo.com on November 7, 2020. Due to being a cover, the song was not sold on the storefront. The metadata for this demo indicates that it was recorded on March 29, but may have been recorded earlier.
