On April 14, 2016, a Weezer Fan Club user made a post on the official Facebook group asking Cuomo if he would post more lyric annotations on the website Genius.com[1]. In the thread, Cuomo replied "i'd have to go back and look at my notes. i kinda forget everything i work on after a few days. I could tell you tons about BEAUTIFUL LIES or GUN IT!"[2]
This song's chorus was later appropriated as the bridge of the 2017 Pacific Daydream song "Weekend Woman". Cuomo's original demos were released in 2020 and 2021, as part of the digital compilations Alone XII: The White Year and Alone XIII: The Pacific Daydream Years, respectively.
