Karl: (however in photo 4, on the flat pan, they SHOULD be upside down
Karl: in photo 3, these are the only guys you still need once they go into the oven, all the rest goes back to the barracks, their work is done

Karl: the flat pan joined the bundt cake pan about 7 minutes later (your time may vary, wait til the bundt pan pile starts to sink down and look more delicious)
Karl: i have no documentation of "the flip" that reunites the halves post-oven, but its a messy affair as a lot always sticks to the bundt pan and has to be scraped off, all while holding the 400 degree bundt pan upside down with a oven mitt, and not burning your scraping hand. then more sauces, avocado, lemon squeeze. the end.

Karl: despite the erroneously upside down scoops in the middle layer, it was still delicious

Persephone: Are those salsas required for authenticity? I've been buying from Red Cactus recently, I can only assume their salsa is endorsed by god given the cross on the container, I highly recommend it
Karl: no, the salsa thing is just: medium chunky, no wacky stuff. but i try to find ones with no cilantro.

justinhoenke: TJ’s sriracha is not bad. I haven’t been able to find the real stuff for about a year. This isn’t as hot and is sweeter but I’ll take it.
Karl: agreed. Huy Fong is the GOAT but the factory is upwind of a neighborhood in LA thats mad at the spicy smoke apparently
Karl: oh also new technique: use a wide rounded end knife to gently pry the nacho mix from the walls of the bundt pan, before the flip. i managed to get a clean doughnut this way, nothing significant stuck. remember youll need to stabilize the pan with a oven mitt covered hand

Burnst Jamp: @Karlophone "Winkler": a real band Finn fronted, or just a Pat-ism? (taken from an old band bio)

Karl:
real! Not long lived. Pretty great while it lasted. The origins (if ive not mixed anything up) was a band he started in LA in late '92, a while after weezer started, called "Weet Wesheen". he got his then-pal Darrin Pfieffer (yes that DP, ex-Zero Tolerance, future Goldfinger) to move out from Buffalo to be his drummer (sorta how PW did back in '90, except this was less brotherly, more "we'll see how this works out"). This band rehearsed and made a demo, including a track for a Spike Jonze promo video for some jewelry company of something? (very obscure early video work for Spike), but: no shows. Darrin went back to Buffalo, Pat moved to Buffalo for a few months, renamed the band Winkler, made a new demo, played one show in Buffalo that I attended (cant remember if Darrin was the drummer at this point?), then left and moved to NYC. (Darrin then returned to LA, and eventually got himself into Goldfinger). phew!
oh the Spike video was for a company called "Chrome Hearts"
if any one has a copy of the video, it ought to be me via Pat. But Pat is slowly digitizing his collection so we'll see
Burnst Jamp:
I've thought our page for Pfeiffer on the site lacked some pizazz for a while. Time to give it the special Karlification touch.....
Haha wow I stand corrected. The infos there already!
Karl: haha! Yeah Darrin was on the scene in fall 92, he was our roomate for a few months. a challenging, loyal, talented, frustrating at times brohiem. Always wish him the best, he ought to be raging in a band like the Offspring or something.
