Overview
"Queen of Earth" was first demoed by Rivers Cuomo in early 2002. This demo, titled "Queen of Hearts," was released in 2020 as part of the digital compilation Alone VIII: The Maladroit Years in 2020.
Later in 2002, the song was demoed by Weezer during early sessions for the band's planned follow-up to Maladroit (which was, at that time, yet to be released). The band is first known to have begun recording the song in early April at Cello Studios. The song is known for its slow tempo and dark, ballad-like tone. Three versions of the song were, ostensibly, shared with fans on weezer.com but, due to an apparent error, two of these versions (June 25 and July 2) uploaded were, in fact, identical.
Lyrics
Queen of Earth, won't you stand by my side?
We've both waited for the whole of our lives
Come with me, we can build ecstasy
Never once have I felt quite this way
Feel my heartbeat is just slipping away
Want to live in my hole in the ground
I'm over and done, baby
I'm over and done
I never want to be alone
I never want to be alone
Want to live in my hole in the ground
I'm over and done, baby
I'm over and done
I never want to be alone
I never want to be alone
