Overview
The song's title was discovered by fans in the database for a Weezer set list survey hosted on Rivers Cuomo's website in June of 2022. Cuomo mentioned the track on the his Discord server on August 22, 2022, stating that it was to act as the de facto lead single for the record, conceding “there probably won’t be a radio single.”[1] Ultimately, "What Happens After You" was chosen as the album's "single."
A 22-second clip of the song was made available on September 15 as reward for solving that day's puzzle on Cuomo's web game, Weezle.
A demo of "Can't Dance, Don't Ask Me" was leaked online in December of 2022.
