...MB '05 Tour: Day 132: Selland Arena - Fresno, CA
Back out in the middle of the San Joaquin Valley for the first time in several years, and it feels good. Todays show at Fresno's Selland Arena was the first post Foozer show, and while its sad not to still be out with the Foo people, it was a real treat to be in front of a fully weezed out crowd again. The crowd only had a few weeks to gather, as this show was announced very late in the game, but the 2200 or so peeps who did make it down were ultra stoked and amounted to one of the more loud and raucous crowds of the tour!

Today's crowd got a special treat, though most wernt sure what exactly it was during the show. The band ran thru Gary Numan's classic early new wave song "Are Friends Electric?", with Rivers on the Moog and Brian and Pat teaming up for vocal duties. "Are Friends Electric?" is one of several cover songs the band has been or intends on learning, to bolster their arsenal of tunes. Theyve been keeping it democratic, choosing songs to try by picking them out of a hat from an equal amount of suggestions from each band member. Anyway, it sounded great, and the whole set, as well as Hot Hot Heat's set, rocked hard. The crowd went crazy. There was more crowdsurfing at this show than at most of the Foozer shows!

Big ups to Live 105's Miles the intern, Craig S. (bro of T-Bone Sully, and an early weez supporter from '94), and Elisa E. an extra at the Perfect Situation video shoot, all in the hizzouse tonight!

"...I have spent half of my life loving weezer, ever since I was 10 years old and the Blue album came out, and to finally see them tonight was just a dream come true. I can easily say that they have been my all-time favorite band for the last 11 years. Well finally, I got to see them. Tonight at the Selland Arena in Fresno, CA, the weez put on an ultimate show. My impression watching Rivers tonight was that he finally came to a point in which he realized how much he loved what he was doing. From dancing around like fools to the whole band just soaking up the love it just appeared that the band had come full circle to the music that brought them and the world great joy. I had read the reports of how people say that they really enjoy themselves on stage, and I saw that very evident tonight. I really felt proud to say that I had been there with the band since the begining and see them struggle and grow, but then come to the pinnacle ofsuccess they have reached. Weezer, you are the epitome of what rock stars should be about on stage. I loved you back then, and I love you, somehow, even more now. Thank you for coming out to the valley and hopefully you felt the love that we have for you all." ---Paul D.
