Weezer performed at the Main Stage of Reading Festival in Washington, D.C. on August 23, 1996, during the Pinkerton Tour. Weezer played beside Rage Against The Machine and The Offspring.
The gig was broadcasted on Radio 1 FM. A few of these songs ("Why Bother?", "El Scorcho" and "Pink Triangle") later found their way to disc 2 of the deluxe version of Pinkerton. During the set, Matt Sharp announced that "El Scorcho" would be the next single, which was released later in September.
