...allright, the first of the 3 Special Goodness/AM Radio/Goat Punishment shows is now history. For the most part, everything went pretty smoothly and the loud rock n roll was enjoyed by all, but like most shows, there were a few minor glitches. The main 'glitch' was the Viper Room making a lot of the eager happy-to-pay customers wait and in some cases miss the show, as the club placated a rather large "VIP" list of people who were sort of Sunset Blvd scenesters more than fans of the bands in the room. We have taken steps to prevent this from happening again at Wednesdays and Thursdays shows, and we apologize to the group of true fans who never made it in tonight. Fortunately there are 2 more shows to go, but I would advise getting there a bit extra early, after seeing that huge line tonight!
For those who made it inside, they were treated to 3 rad sets! Pat Wilson's Special Goodness kicked it off with their heavy massive rock that just dont stop, Kevin Ridel's AM Radio turned in a beautiful 10 song set chock full of the good catchy stuff, and finally Goat Punishment took the stage for a set that was heavy on the brand new songs. Many songs in their set were the same ones theyve been working on in the studio recently, so they were tight as a drum! The crowd sounded like they loved the new material, which includes a fair amount of chunky semi-aggro rockers. Perhaps someone got a little recorder past the beefy security dudes and there can be some digital =gp= file sharing going on soon. In any event, I shot some video, and it looks like the next video clip I post will be a montage of Viper activity from all 3 nights.
