Featured song: "Lonely Girl" Play on spotify.png

"Lonely Girl" is the fourth track on Everything Will Be Alright in the End.

The song is a reworking of an older and unheard Rivers Cuomo demo titled "Homely," first recorded in 2000. It is not known how different "Lonely Girl" is from this original song, however, as it was not included in-full in the demo bundles Cuomo released in 2020. Following the release of "Lonely Girl" in 2014, fans speculated that the song originated during the Green Album-era based on its song structure and the fact that Ric Ocasek produced the sessions for both records. The provenance of "Lonely Girl" was confirmed in 2020 when a demo titled "Follow" was released as part of Cuomo's digital demo compilation Alone VIII: The Maladroit Years in 2020, wherein an extremely brief snippet of the end of "Homely" can be heard.

"Lonely Girl" was the third song released from Everything Will Be Alright in the End prior to the album's full release, but it was not a single. The liner notes for EWBAITE, which group the album's songs by theme, include "Lonely Girl" in the "Belladonna" group. Shortly after the release of the album, an instrumental-only version of "Lonely Girl" was leaked online. In December 2017, an early studio mix of the song was leaked (along with the rest of the album).
