Weezer performed at Coconut Teaszer in Los Angeles, California on July 27, 1992.

Overview

Rivers Cuomo's guitar strap broke during the first song of this show, leading to an improvised rendition of the theme from the 1972 movie Deliverance, more commonly known as "Dueling Banjos." This led to the setlist getting disrupted.[1]

Footnotes

  1. Historic event: 07/27/1992 clarifies: "The actual setlist from this show survived and is the earliest known surviving original weezer setlist. However, it is not accurate to the actual set they played! This is very likely due to the guitar strap disaster early in the set that got the works all gummed up. It looks like they decided to skip a song, but then squeezed everything in except for the planned "encore". Since the encore was axed, the song that was sacrificed in the set was "Conversationalist", which was actually a modified cover version of Wax's "So Much Talk", which weezer had been fooling around with in rehearsal. Not to worry though, they got their chance to play it [for members of Wax even], at their next show on 8/12.
