Overview
"Teenage Victory Song" was released as a b-side to the UK Hash Pipe retail vinyl single, and the Japanese "Island in the Sun" CD single. The song was a strong contender to make the cut of The Green Album, but ultimately did not make the cut.
According to a Weezer.com update from February 5, 2001, Karl Koch, some fans missed an opportunity to appear on a Weezer song during the mixing of this track at South Beach Studios:Rivers was working on multiple aspects of "Teenage Victory Song", doing various guitar and vocal overdubs and fixes, and he determined that some good "gang vocals" were needed. We had Mikey, myself, and Carlos the engineer on hand, but Rivers was really hoping for a true gang, and went outside looking for some fans! There was a small group out front earlier in the day, but unfortunately the area was deserted by the time Rivers went a-hunting for guest vocalists. Fortunately we were able to make do with the "gang" already on hand, and the part turned out fine.
A demo of the song was released as part of the compilation Alone VII: The Green Years in 2020.
