Weezer performed at the Palace in Los Angeles, California on August 15, 1997 as part of concert to benefit the family of Mykel and Carli Allan, the founders of the Weezer Fan Club who, along with their younger sister Trysta, passed away in a car accident in July of that year. The supporting acts were Black Market Flowers (who reformed just for this event, having previously split up[1]) and That Dog (who disbanded thereafter). This concert was Weezer's final performance for three years, and the last to feature bassist Matt Sharp before his departure from the band. Among those known to be in attendance were Claire Danes, Jared Leto, Billie Joe Armstrong (of Green Day), Ben Lee, Spike Jonze, Sophia Coppola, Daniel Brummel, and members of No Doubt."[2] Before the encore, the Mykel and Carli's father, Wayne Allan, delivered a speech.
